Archery to be Taught in the Sandy Creek School system With a donation from the Oswego County
Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, funded through this Foundation, New York Bow
giving a Grant of $1,400 and funding coming from a DEC account funded by the
National Wild Turkey Foundation, and local donations from the Sandy Creek
Sports Boosters and a local Community Park Group, The Sandy Creek School system is participating in
the National Archery in the Schools Program.
With Sandy Creek having a NASP Certified Instructor and the grant funding
process above, archery is being taught in the Sandy Creek School system as part
of their Skill for Life Program as part of there athletic program in grades K -
12. Pending Projects in the Works Establishment of late Season Grassland Habitat at Deer Creek Marsh. A $8,700 Project, working in conjunction with the NY DEC and the Federal Whip Program. (Update there has been a delay in the grant process through the NRCS. Project should move forward in 2009, Project funding may be lost due to Federal budget 4-10-09) Deer Creek Marsh Evasive Plant Species Control
Program. Species of concern; swallow wart, Japanese knot weed, and glossy
buck thorn. This is a two year control program with an estimated cost of
$18,000. The goal is to get this species under control to where The DEC
will be able to perform future control measures under normal budgetary measures.
Organizations involved with this project; the Foundation, DEC, Energy, and the
National Wild Turkey Foundation. NASP National Archery in the School Program - Grant for $9,000 for local funding (Central and Northern New York) submitted. Notification of success or rejection expected in July 09. Number of pending grant applications - |
